Baker Law opened in 2018, less than 1 year after Harvey made landfall. Because I grew up in Portland, Texas, and so much of my family lives in this Coastal Bend area, moving to Rockport was a lot like coming home. I practiced law in large firms, and in large cities, for more than 20 years of my career, but it wasn’t until I left behind those big firms and their “big firm mentality” that I truly began to enjoy my work. Practicing law in Rockport, and being blessed with the opportunity to help local people and businesses, has finally allowed me to realize just how rewarding practicing law can be.
For years I built a niche practice helping home and business owners with property damage claims and other insurance-related matters. Never did I think “the big one” would actually hit in my own backyard. Hurricane Harvey may have taken a lot from us, but I believe this community is stronger and more uniquely equipped to understand and empathize with those who must walk through catastrophic events. In helping my friends, family, and neighbors in Rockport, I’ve come to understand and appreciate the importance of personal connections. I will continue to help clients with future storm claims and insurance disputes, because I am certain the insurance companies will not change. As I’m blessed with future opportunities to help people in need, I will strive to connect with and understand each client personally. Since the foundation of this firm, I have always said, and I will continue to say: “We represent friends, family, and neighbors. If you aren’t one when we get started, we want you to be one when we are finished.”
Molly Baker spent nearly 25 years teaching children in kindergarten, first grade, second grade, and in music classes. After Harvey’s devastation in 2017, Molly cut her retirement short, and in March of 2018, she and Kevin became full-time Rockport citizens and Baker Law was established to help Rockport homeowners recover from their losses. Molly currently works as Baker Law’s office administrator and also handles the firm’s bookkeeping and accounting. In her spare time, she enjoys music and singing, and she volunteers as co-choir conductor at Coastal Oaks Church.
Janina Fuentes has been a legal assistant at Baker Law since the firm began in March of 2018. She currently lives in San Antonio where she works from her home. Prior to joining Baker Law, Janina worked as a legal assistant in the Ketterman Rowland and Westlund Law Firm. She has previously worked in Immigration law and is a fluent Spanish speaker. With a goal of pursuing a legal career, Janina completed her undergrad studies at the University of Texas at San Antonio with a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. She enjoys teamwork and assisting others.
Chloe Noonan is the Receptionist and Paralegal at Baker Law. While working as a bilingual preschool teacher for several years, she developed an interest in legal studies. She received her Paralegal Certificate from the University of Texas at Austin in 2018, with specializations in Family and Contract Law. Prior to joining Baker Law, Chloe worked as a Corporate Paralegal for a retail consulting firm. In her spare time, Chloe enjoys spending time with family, kayaking, and going to the beach.
